Growing Community Resilience will take place Wednesday, July 29th from 4-5:30PM CT. This event is an opportunity for community building through anti-racism and food justice work during the time of COVID-19.

We will be setting the groundwork for ongoing discussions. WFAN moderators will be on the call and within breakout sessions to ensure an effective and respectful space rooted in inclusivity. We are all coming to the table with different experiences, expertise, skillsets, insights, and resources, and this will be a space for us to bring what we have to the table in order to begin identifying avenues of collective action. This event will involve identity-based break out sessions for focused readings and sharing, followed by a coming together to discuss how racial justice is essential in order to achieve food justice. Please complete these readings and guided questions before the meeting:

  1. Complete your group's reading:

  2. Write down your answers to the following:

    • What food justice actions would you like to take personally or see take place within in your community?

    • What experiences, expertise, skillsets, insights, and resources you are bringing to the table?

    • How do your skills and resources contribute to those actions?

    • What skills and resources are missing?

    • What other barriers do you see that are preventing this action from taking place?

  3.  We encourage you to join with a computer so you can have access to full Zoom capabilities. We will be encouraging the use of video and audio during the breakout sessions. If you will be joining with a phone, please be sure to join the call at least 10 minutes early, so we can rename your Zoom profile according to your preferred breakout group. New to Zoom?
