Join us for our Urban Ag Field Day at the Coldwater in Avondale, AZ - see irrigation demonstrations and meet farmer Jhonny Flores!
The Urban Ag Field Day is an initiative hosted by the University of Arizona Cooperative Urban Agriculture, in collaboration with the Natural Resources Conservation Service. AZ Health Zone and Maricopa County are partnering on this event to further support urban agriculture networking! The event will include a live irrigation demonstration with Dr. Edward Martin on irrigation for urban farms, a farm tour and Q&A with Coldwater farmer Jhonny Flores, and a Networking Lunch. Both NRCS and FSA staff will be available to talk about program assistance for urban farmers. Participants will gain knowledge specific to small-scale and urban farming, while having an opportunity to connect with service providers, Extension expertise, local buyers, and other farmers in attendance!

Dr. Edward (Ed) Martin is the Interim Director of Cooperative Extension, and also an Extension Irrigation Specialist and Professor in the Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering Department of the University of Arizona.
Jhonny Flores was born and raised in Avondale and jumped into farming four years ago, inspired to combat food insecurity in his community. He is the lead farmer at the Coldwater Coop where he grows on 44 beds on a quarter-acre plot nested behind the Coop, a bakery and coffee shop in Avondale.
