"Food Systems Friday" Webinar Series
Join us on August 7th at 12:00 PM (Pacific)
for Episode 13: Re-indigenizing Food
Re-indigenizing food is about culture. Colonization and the associated tribal removal from homelands resulted in loss of access to traditional food sources and the introduction of processed foods. The health and wellness of tribal communities is related to food sovereignty - the right of peoples to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods, and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems. What actions and initiatives can support communities re-indigenizing food? This webinar will explore different food sovereignty initiatives that empower tribal communities to grow their own healthy fresh produce, ease food insecurity and realize the benefits of healthy eating.
This week’s conversation will feature locals, Mark Ford and Rafael Tapia
