The taste of prickly pear fruit is DELICIOUS! Join Desert Museum Educators and learn about our local ones, as well as those from southern Mexico that have been bred for over millennia to be spineless. You will also discover how to prepare the tender prickly pear pads (cleaning, grilling, pickling). Do you know why this fruit is so red? You'll learn about the cochineal insect, which bestowed the deep red color into the Spanish kings' robes, as well as other natural history bits surrounding this interesting nopal. 🌵

$27/Non-member, $25 members

We will send you a Zoom link on the day of the class, one hour before the class begins. You do not need to do anything other than open the link. Please join about 15 minutes prior to make sure that we get you connected.
