Black Food Sovereignty: "To Free Us, We Must Feed Us"

The ASU Sustainability Series speakers discuss a range of environmental, social, and economic topics at these events, sponsored or co-sponsored by the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability.

Drinking Gourd Farms is building a movement of Black gardeners, farmers, and homesteaders focused on the physical, mental, and spiritual health of Black people through agriculture, political education, environmental stewardship, and culture-rich healthy cooking.

They are developing a collective food sovereignty practice across Phoenix that is securing independent, community-determined healthy food sources that liberate Black people from the industrialized food system.

Join in for a robust discussion with movement leaders: Ken Chapman, Ibado Mahmoud, and Khalil McCullen, and Cofey.
