Beginning Farmer & Rancher Classes

Have you ever wanted to make a living by farming or ranching? Attend this class series to learn how to start. Classes have special appeal to veterans, female farmers and anyone interested.

Curriculum will include:

  • Central Arizona soil history and properties

  • The value and care of pollinators

  • Local, state, county, and district resources; website tools

  • Planning your Farm Operation: costs and checklists

  • Crops & Produce to Consider for Arizona Deserts

  • Marketing Your Produce “Farm to Fork” to Chefs

  • Niche Marketing from CSAs, Farmers Markets and produce stands

  • New GHP/GAP standards in 2020

Cost

$40 total for 4 Class Series - Attendance at ranching classes outside of Florence allowed with Registration. Four scholarships are available. Please ask.

Sept 3, 2019, Nov 5, 2019, Jan 7, 2020, and March 3, 2020. All classes are 9am to 12pm
