Advocate for Indigenous Peoples Rights, Environmental Justice and Food Sovereignty at Tonatierra

Eve Reyes-Aguirre is an advocate for Indigenous Peoples Rights, Environmental Justice and Food Sovereignty. Eve has been with Tonatierra, a Phoenix based Indigenous led organization for over 25 years. In partnership with local farms and community, Eve was instrumental in establishing the Miltecayotl, the only Food Bank in the state of Arizona that is dedicated to serving Farmworkers. Ensuring that farmworkers, the unseen backbone of our agricultural industry, have access to nutritious and culturally appropriate food, which is the primary goal of the Miltecayotl project.  Eve’s advocacy extends globally, including impactful engagements at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, where she has campaigned against the corporate ownership and patenting of seeds from traditional Indigenous foods. Eve's work continues to shape policies and empower communities, promoting equity and justice in food access worldwide.
