Spice up your drinks with recipes from These Food Entrepreneurs!

Local First Arizona’s Community Kitchen is a special place where food, community, and entrepreneurship connect. Food entrepreneurs in the community kitchen go through a two-step process, starting their journey with the Restaurant Startup Boot Camp and later gaining access to one of our community kitchens that offers the benefits of working with other entrepreneurs and 1:1 consultation on how to get their business going.

Two food entrepreneurs, The Common Room and Lil Leche, are currently going through the program and shared their favorite wintery drink recipes that you can make and enjoy at home!

The Common Room

The idea of The Common Room came to owner Alyssa Skoog back in 2015 when she was spending most of her time in coffee shops journaling and looking for direction in her life. She found comfort in coffee and realized she wanted to bring this feeling to others and help remind people that we have more in common than we realize. On this principle, The Common Room was born and Alyssa started her business out of the Local First Arizona Mesa Community Kitchen. You can find The Common Room at local farmers markets and festivals or take a jug of their cold brew home with you! You can also purchase their cold brew and other goodies like coffee sugar scrub and stickers on their website.

Alyssa from The Common Room shared a fun way to give your morning cold brew some holiday pizazz!

Peppermint Cold Brew

Directions:

1. In a small pot, bring water and peppermints to a simmer until the peppermints are melted halfway.

2. Remove peppermints and add cornstarch. Mix and remove from heat. Mixture will thicken as it cools.

3. Pour half of the peppermint syrup mixture into a cup with almond milk and stir to combine.

4. Pour the other half of the peppermint syrup mixture into a cup with heavy whipping cream and mix using a hand mixer until foam is thick.

5. In a glass with ice, add the almond milk, peppermint schnapps, cold brew, and foam.

6. Enjoy!

Make sure to give them a follow and grab a cold brew at your local market!
