Andrea Carter
Dr. Carter works with Native Seeds/SEARCH, a conservation organization that preserves and distributes crops seeds of the Southwest. In her role as Director of Agriculture and Education she works with farmers and community food producers in support of seed saving and seed banking. She received her doctorate in Plant Science from the University of Arizona specializing in drought tolerant grain varieties and now manages a small acreage farm with her husband outside of Tucson. She is of Tunisian, African American, and Powhatan heritage and believes traditional Indigenous agriculture is key to addressing our food system challenges of the present and future.
