Roosevelt Farm is a hydroponic urban farm growing produce for Roosevelt School district cafeterias and providing fresh produce to the greater community through farmers’ markets, neighborhood produce stands, and a local food bank.
Roosevelt Farms is part of the Roosevelt Center of Sustainability - an innovative learning hub that comprises a greenhouse, gardens, outdoor farmland, and educational displays. We strive to promote healthy lifestyle choices for people and the planet. The Center particularly reaches out to children to build a relationship to healthy food, including where it comes from and various ways to grow it.
Our 13,000 square foot greenhouse provides traditional and innovative growing methods for producing the maximum amount of high quality food using the least resources. Produce grown inside meets USDA GHP/GAP food safety standards and is eaten within days of harvest, with minimal processing and transportation. It is a pesticide-free environment.
The Roosevelt Center offers engaging STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum for students in Roosevelt School district and beyond. Hydroponics, aquaponics, soil beds, vermiculture and compost systems, pollinator gardens, and sustainability-themed exhibits provide laboratories for learning.
